The Pete Dye design is spectacular, spacious and welcoming. Strategy on this links-style course plays a major role in scoring well. The course plays 7,163 yards (6,512 metres) off the tips, but can be played from four sets of tees all the way down to a more welcoming 5,266 yards (4,787 metres).
Another factor that has dramatically improved the playing conditions of the course is the change from the more difficult kikuyu grass to the far friendlier and less water consuming paspalum grass. The Dye trademark bunkers dot the course, serving as hazards for wayward shots.
A key feature of the course is its new practice facilities, including a spacious double-ended practice range, short game practice area and an attractive nine-hole par three course also designed by Pete Dye and his associate, Tim Liddy. These important practice facilities will assist in the development of golf in a country with a population of seven million. The Club has an active program to develop junior golf.
