The winter weather didn't deter the 75 golfers who arrived at the course on Thursday at 8 in the morning, all ready to start the traditional family golf tournament. Every member of the club can invite a family member, young or old, grandparent, parent, wife or husband, whoever he wants, to play alongside him as a family team.
Unfortunately, the afternoon storm that blew up drove away 40 of the competitors. This left less than half the original players to finish the tournament in the driving rain.
After five hours of difficult play, the plucky but wet golfers gathered together in the club restaurant for a well deserved and much needed hot lunch of (what else!) - cholent (meat stew). Following the meal Sabbath candles were lit and the trophy presentations were made.
And the winners were...
The closest ball to the hole - Nir Yaron
The longest stroke - men - Aviv Levi
The longest stroke - women - Ruthie Oren
The most ethical game player - Bob Samuels
Third place - Nir Yaron with his son, Nadav Yaron - 68
Second place - Nissim Zanti with his son, Shlomi Zanti - 65
First place - Charley Levy with his son, Aviv Levi - 64
All of the golfers who survived the pouring rain and finished the tournament where given a set of brand name golf balls.
