The project's launching ceremony was held this week at the Jasser a-Zarker Community Center and was attended by the Baroness Nadine de Rothschild, the Minister for Minority Affairs, Avishi Brodermann, MK Yaakov Edri, the deputy Chairman of the Rothschild-Caesarea Foundation, Advocate David Ephrati and many other distinguished guests from the area.
The Bodo for Peace Foundation has been operating for 15 years in communities around the country and believes that people can be drawn closer , barriers brought down and prejudice combated with the aid of the martial arts.
The foundation was established six years ago by Danny Chakim, World Chamnpion in martial arts, with the goal of reaching children in different segments of the population - Jews (both religious and non-religious), veteran Israelis and new immigrants, Muslims and Bedouin.
Recently, the Edmund and Nadine de Rothschild Foundation became one of the sponsors for the Bodo for Peace Foundation and, as a result of the Baroness's support, the foundation was able to expand its activities into the Jasser a-Zarker and Or Akiva area.
