Caesarea, in the past one of the most important and beautiful cities in the Land of Israel, is today a magical place, a rare combination of quality of life, tradition, antiquities, a romantic beach, a business park, an international golf club, a vibrant community and a unique harbor that is a world renowned tourist attraction.
The Harbor that sits in the center of the Caesarea National Park is one of Israel's most beautiful and impressive tourist attractions. The renovation and reconstruction works, new building construction and the development of the harbor were carried out by the State of Israel and the Caesarea Development Corporation. Alongside a Crusader
tower, a Byzantine street, the Roman hippodrome, amazing colored mosaics, an ancient breakwater and the breathtaking Roman theatre, visitors enjoy multimedia presentations, art galleries, fine restaurants and coffee shops that have transformed the old harbor into an international site that combines culture, recreation and leisure.
Just a short walking distance from the Caesarea National Park, lies the prestigious Caesarea Golf Club that was founded by the Rothschild family in 1961. Over the years, the club has hosted Prime Ministers, Presidents and sportsmen from around the world. In 2007 the Caesarea Development Corporation decided to redesign and rebuild the course, to make it suitable for the new era of golfing and to bring it in line with the highest international standards. For this purpose, Pete Dye, one of the world's leading golf course architects was chosen to design an innovative 18 hole course that would be of the highest possible, international standards and that would attract golfers from around the globe.
The Caesarea Business Park today hosts traditional industries alongside High Tech companies, logistical centers, Biotech companies and medical research companies. The park was designed and constructed to the highest possible standards and resolutely works to preserve the environment. The park is close to the Menashe Stream underground water reservoir that provides fresh water to the area and the Caesarea Development Corporation's commitment and responsibility to protect this water source from pollution, is one of the park's big advantages. The environmental protection program implemented in the park has, over the years, become an example that has taught many other organizations and companies around the country, including environmental organizations, how to manage and preserve the environment.
Caesarea has an active and vibrant community that is a full partner in the building of cultural and community programs for the community. Residents enjoy a wide and exciting range of activities provided by the Caesarea Culture and Leisure Center for people of all ages. The center is the heart of Caesarea's cultural and leisure life and has been operating since 1992. The center is a place to meet, to learn and to mingle for all Caesarea's residents, young and old alike.
The Caesarea Development Corporation, which is the operational arm of the Rothschild Caesarea Foundation, continues the philanthropic ideals of the Rothschild family and the well known benefactor, Baron Edmund Benjamin de Rothschild. In the 60's, the Caesarea Development Corporation was given the responsibility of realizing the Baron's vision of turning Caesarea into a unique community and tourist center that would become one of the most attractive leisure and holiday centers in the country. All this was accomplished by a massive investment in development including land improvement to build residential neighborhoods, industrial areas and tourist sites. Much of the corporation's profit is given to the Rothschild Caesarea Foundation which has as its goal the development of Caesarea as a unique community and also to provide financial assistance to organizations and institutions seeking to improve higher learning and formal education in Israel.
