Why is a new course necessary?
This course was designed and built in 1961. The course is considered outdated, flat and unchallenging. Professional golf course ranking determined that the Caesarea Golf Course is ranked 2-3 on a scale of 1-10. In addition, the type of lawn that it has is not the most suitable type for golf courses and the irrigation system is outdated. As in any field, the Caesarea Development Corporation wants to upgrade, lead and streamline. Golf, too, has trends and innovations. The new course, based on the plans of Pete Dye, will be sophisticated, interesting and far more challenging. Once completed, the course will in crease Caesarea's value as a town and will draw tourists near and far to the club.
Why was Pete Dye chosen as the project architect?
The Corporation reviewed several known architects in the field of golf course architecture. Pete Dye is considered one of the leading architects in the world and is a legend in golf course architecture. Of the top ten golf courses in the world, Golf Digest included 3 of Dye's courses. The club being planned by Dye will draw golfers from around the world to Israel, and will significantly contribute to the development of golf in Israel.
Dye designs up to two golf courses a year and does not usually accept work outside the United States. This time, the combination of golf, the Holy Land, the ruins and the possibility of helping Israel to become a golf superpower, convinced Dye to take on the project.
Will the natural flora be damaged by the golf course?
The Corporation hired the services of expert ecological consultant, Dr. Ron Promkin, who will accompany the Corporation during the entire process in order to preserve the natural surroundings and vista.
